For this project, you will need a Large Men shirt. This one was my husband shirt that he doesn's want to wear anymore. A perfect candidate to be transformed!
Step 1: Turn the shirt wrong side out. Use a dress a pattern. Lay it on top of the shirt then pin it to secure.
Step 2: Since the dress is a sleeveless I am going to trace a sleeves right on the shirt.
Step 3: Cut out the excess fabric, be sure to add atleast 1/2 inch seam allowances on both sides of the shirt.
Step 4: It will look something like this.
Step 5: Since the collar is going to be big for my model. I will trim it off.
Step 6: You will have to watch the full video tutorial for this. So you will know how I made the long strip you see on the photo.
Step 7: Shorten the dress if necessary. Don't forget to add 1 inch allowance for the new hemline.

Today I will be teaching you how to make a shirt dress out of an oversized shirt. I found this vintage shirt at the thrift store and immediately fell in love with the blue gingham print and a nautical embroidery details which is really on trend right now. When choosing a shirt be sure that it is size Large or bigger so you will have enough fabric to work with. You will need a t-shirt as a pattern as well. You'll be surprise how easy this project is, when I said 20 minutes I really meant it!
Here I added a black satin bow to give it an extra touch for more preppy vibe!
